Keeping jobs in the US

Consider this example: a company has a patent in the US; it produces the invention covered by the patent abroad, and imports the invention. With the US patent, this company can prevent any other company from producing the invention in the US. There is something wrong with that!
I think Congress needs to change how compensations for patent infringement are calculated. The compensations must be based on how much money an entity based in the US is loosing because of the infringement. If there is no entity based in the US that produces the invention, there is no compensation, even if the patent is infringed. That should help keeping jobs in America.

How about a federal law requiring any product or parts coming into the US provide proof of our manufacturing safety standards (OSHA) by those supply companies with 3rd party random inspections (by the US) and certified documentation. We do the same thing for certain woods we import already and that industry works. Yes, maybe a paperwork nightmare but WTH? Can’t be worse than the status quo and we need to level the playing field! Outside countries do not provide safe conditions for their workers; we keep finding lead paint, bad meat and many other problems with imports. Also, it would have a chilling effect on knock off forgeries of goods that flood our markets.
